ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
This two-day conference will highlight engaged scholarship and scholar-activism in higher-education, at Stanford, and in the community. While engaged scholarship has a long history, it is receiving increased attention in major academic journals and conferences. Here at Stanford, the Cardinal Service Initiative promotes a new focus on community engagement. This conference will shine a light on the various forms of engaged research on Stanford’s campus and beyond; interrogate the relationships between academic scholarship, communities and movements; create a space for productive dialogue between community groups, scholars and students; explore the research/learning possibilities between students and faculty in classrooms and communities; and bring together different stakeholders to build a community of engaged scholars at Stanford. The conference will feature the work of faculty, graduate students, undergraduates and community partners.
